Are people still buying Andrew Tate’s crypto?

Image
In 2024, popular influencer Andrew Tate reversed his previous stance and decided to get involved with cryptocurrencies, investing in Bitcoin (BTC), endorsing – though some might say shilling – blockchains, and promoting a self-themed meme coin: Daddy Tate (DADDY). During the year, DADDY recorded notable gains as the celebrity posted numerous social media posts urging his followers to invest and saw several peaks. Shortly after launch, in mid-June, it hit its all-time high (ATH) at $0.2641. Though it swiftly plunged toward $0.078, it enjoyed several subsequent surges to $0.21 in July, $0.158 in September, and $0.164 in October.  Despite the sometimes positive volatility, it is difficult to miss that Daddy Tate has been in a death spiral since its launch, spending most of its time on the decline in the cryptocurrency market. With its press time price of $0.039, DADDY is 85.25% down in the all-time chart and has collapsed 32.61% since 2025 started. ...

NFT artist sues X for suspending account, wrecking business

Image
Binance Smart Chain’s ‘biggest’ NFT artist is suing Elon Musk’s X Corp after the social media giant suspended his accounts, allegedly ignoring its own policy and costing him his livelihood. Jeremy Ryan, aka ‘NFT Demon,’ filed a lawsuit in California on Wednesday in which he accuses X (formerly Twitter) of unfairly suspending his seven accounts and ‘severely’ damaging his crypto and NFT businesses.  Ryan, who became an NFT artist after surviving brain cancer, says his record of minted art makes him the largest NFT artist on the Binance Smart Chain. His work has attracted support from numerous celebrities including John Cena and Snoop Dogg. However, he argues that being cut off from his accounts means he has “ lost his predominant source of income and livelihood ,” and that he is losing future profits that could be made if he was still active on X promoting his NFT work.      Screenshots taken of NFT Demon’s art, which mostly resemble other NFT projects such as Bored Ape Yacht ...

Coinbase accused of celebrating ‘Shitcoin Pizza Day’ with USDC promo

Bitcoin maxis have branded Coinbase an ‘enemy of Bitcoin’ and accused it of ‘cultural misappropriation’ after the crypto exchange decided to sell pizza with USDC on Bitcoin Pizza Day. On May 22, Coinbase set up a pizza truck selling slices for $1 worth of USDC. Coinbase said it was “celebrating how far crypto has come since 2010 in helping to create a cheaper, faster system.” However, some crypto enthusiasts weren’t impressed by the USDC pricing. Users on X (formerly Twitter) claimed the crypto exchange should be ‘ashamed,’ questioned why the truck wouldn’t accept bitcoin, and said Coinbase is behaving like a ‘bad actor.’ BREAKING NEWS Bitcoin Maxis are attempting to destroy the Coinbase pizza truck. pic.twitter.com/XQGshtGTIe — rasmr (@rasmr_eth) May 22, 2024 One attendee filmed themselves next to the Coinbase truck claiming, “The Bitcoin pizza guys are trying to beef with Coinbase .” One man can then be seen walking by with a sign that reads “ It’s Bitcoin ...

Opinion: Roaring Kitty looks to have returned as a pump-and-dumper

There was something different about the way that Keith Gill (aka RoaringKitty on YouTube or DeepFuckingValue on Reddit) used to shill GameStop. He’d do in-depth, long, and extensive live streams and videos sharing his thesis, always instructed that people should reflect on their personal financial situation before buying or selling shares, and generally told followers to take profit when they wanted to. Gill was also quite active on YouTube and Reddit, where he’d show his own portfolio so people knew whether or not he was adding to or subtracting from positions. But since he’s return ed from his Social Media hiatus, which started with a meme about AMC stock that well-known pump and dumper Zack Morris had used a few days before, the public has witnessed a huge departure from this approach. This time, Roaring Kitty isn’t sharing his theses or his portfolio positions, nor is he explaining why he likes certain stocks or live streaming for five hours at a time. Inste...

What’s the ‘choose rich’ crypto meme all about?

Nifty co-founder Nick O’Neill, aka NFT Nick, created the memetic catchphrase ‘ choose rich’ to assert his wealth and attract attention from money-seeking Social Media users. Unfortunately for him, it looks to have backfired as, like many aspirationally rich influencers, NFT Nick’s wealth is mostly self-described. In a comical turn of events, Crypto Twitter discovered O’Neill’s countless exaggerations and lies about his wealth. In the process, users have co-opted the catchphrase and inverted its meaning entirely. For context, the phrase ‘ choose rich’ is a reference to the film T he Wolf of Wall Street , in which Leonardo DiCaprio — speaking as disgraced trader Jordan Belfort — says, “ I choose rich every time .” However, the phrase never gained any meaningful traction until O’Neill fumbled his own attempt to kickstart its adoption. Community noting NFT Nick’s lies NFT Nick claims to own a ‘fleet of Ubers’ and a chauffeur. In rea...

Bitcoin core dev calls out 'misleading' auction selling his code as an NFT

Image
Bitcoin core developer Luke Dashjr has called out the sellers behind an NFT auction for using his name and code without his knowledge or consent. One of the original core developers behind Bitcoin (BTC), Luke Dashjr, has taken to social media to call out an auction site that has used his name and code without his consent to create and sell a “misleading” NFT. The core developer said he hasn't been the first Bitcoin developer to have his name or his work used in this way. In a Feb. 27 post on Twitter, the developer revealed a non-fungible token (NFT), featuring a picture of code he wrote, was sold at auction site for 0.41 Bitcoin (BTC), or roughly $9,500 at the time of writing. I want to make public my concern about "NFTs" which are being sold utilizing my name. Recently, a picture of code I wrote was sold at auction for .41 BTC. It was advertised as my code in the listing and presented to the public for sale and profit. 1/9 pic.twitter.com/5TcEJu4p5e — Luke Dashjr (@L...
