OpenAI hires co-founder of Facebook’s failed Libra crypto project

OpenAI announced that it has hired the co-founder of Facebook’s failed Libra crypto project on the same day that tech giant Apple revealed new integration between ChatGPT and its Siri artificial intelligence. The San Francisco-based firm announced on Monday that former Facebook Libra exec Kevin Weil will become its new chief product officer. Futureverse co-founders launch $50M venture fund

The AI metaverse company raised $54 million in a Series A round in July. Shara Senderoff and Aaron McDonald, co -founder s of AI and metaverse company Futurverse, have launched a new $50 million venture fund and studio. According to the Aug. 3 announcement, the fund is dubbed "Born Ready" and will invest in emerging technology ventures possessing collaboration potential with either Futurverse or metaverse blockchain The Root Network. The co-founders say Born Ready has already invested in firms such as FCTRY Lab, Power'd Digital, Polemos, and Walker Labs. Senderoff previously founded Raised in Space, a blockchain venture fund that has invested in over 20 crypto startups. Aaron was the co -founder and managing director of NetX Fund, with investments in more than 60 portfolio companies.  The firm says it plans to roll out an accelerator program in the near future. Terra Co-founder Daniel Shin’s Fraud Trial Set for May 26

South Korean local media has reported that the first hearing for Terra co -founder Daniel Shin’s fraud case has been scheduled for May 26, 2023. The trial date comes after two failed attempts by prosecutors in Seoul to secure an arrest warrant to detain Shin, who co-founded Terraform Labs in 2018 with the infamous Do Kwon. According to a report by Yonhap News, Daniel Shin’s first trial will be held in the Seoul Southern District Court later this month. The court will hear arguments for Shin as well as seven other associates who have been charged by prosecutors for their role in the collapse of Terra-Luna exactly one year ago. Prosecutors in Seoul previously indicted Shin for fraud in connection with the downfall of Terraform Labs, which wiped out $40 billion from the crypto market. $4B OneCoin scam co-founder pleads guilty, faces 60 years jail

The co-founder of the fraudulent scheme is set to be sentenced in April 2023 on charges relating to wire fraud and money laundering. Karl Sebastian Greenwood, the co-founder of the multi-billion dollar fraudulent cryptocurrency scheme OneCoin has pleaded guilty to multiple charges brought forward by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and faces a maximum of 60 years in prison. The DOJ announced on Dec. 16 that Greenwood submitted a guilty plea in a Manhattan federal court to charges of wire fraud, wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy with each charge carrying a maximum potential sentence of 20 years in jail. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said Greenwood operated “one of the largest international Fraud schemes ever perpetrated” and claimed he touted OneCoin as a “Bitcoin killer” when in reality the tokens were “entirely worthless.” OneCoin was a Bulgarian company founded by Greenwood alongside “Cryptoqueen” Ruja Ignatova that marketed a cryptocurrency by the s...
