Musk Says America Party Will Embrace Bitcoin As Trump Calls Him ‘Off the Rails’

US President Donald Trump blasted Elon Musk as “off the rails” after the Tesla CEO launched the America Party and confirmed it would support Bitcoin. Responding to a user on X who asked whether the new political party would embrace Bitcoin, Musk replied that “Fiat is hopeless, so yes.” The Bitcoin price rose around 1% after the comment to trade at $109,169.72 as of 2:25 a.m. EST. He’s also earned the nickname “DogeFather” for his support of Dogecoin. Musk To Challenge Two-Party System Musk ran a poll on X on July 4, which is also Independence Day in America, to gauge whether there’s support for a new political party.  Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Donald Trump ties himself to Bitcoin

Donald Trump, the sexual predator, financial felon, and former president, gave a speech at Bitcoin 2024 in Nashville in which he promised many things that the cryptocurrency industry has been hoping for. These included having the United States hold bitcoin, removing Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairman Gary Gensler, and support for stablecoins. United States Bitcoin Reserve Trump noted that the United States Federal Government currently holds 210,000 bitcoins, and he insisted that if he is elected, it will hold them indefinitely. This isn’t a promise that he’ll likely be able to follow through with, since many of these coins likely have other claims against them. For example, more than 90,000 of these are bitcoins that were seized by the government with the arrest of Heather Morgan and Ilya Lichtenstein for laundering the proceeds of the Bitfinex hack.  ~110k btc 94.6k: bc1qazcm763858nkj2dj986etajv6wquslv8uxwczt 12.3k: bc1qkmk4v2xn29yge68fq6zh7gvfdqrvpq3v...

US law protects institutions and exposes retail investors — Rep. Torres

New York Representative Ritchie Torres had an exclusive interview with Cointelegraph to discuss why retail investors are still at risk following the XRP court ruling. On July 13, 2023, United States District Court Judge Analisa Torres ruled that Ripple’s XRP (XRP) token should not be considered a security when sold on retail digital asset exchanges. Stuart Alderoty, chief legal officer at Ripple, told Cointelegraph that last week’s ruling makes it clear that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) theory that a token can be an investment contract and, therefore, a security, no longer has support in the law. He said of the ruling: “That is not only a huge win for Ripple, but it’s a win for all of crypto in the United States. The SEC can no longer tout their record in crypto, which was, up till now, by and large, settlements with players that didn’t have the resources to fight back.” While this may be, New York Representative Ritchie Torres told Cointelegraph that the Ripple...
